HOW MUCH IS YOUR BLOG WORTH

How is the value of your blog calculated?

First of all let's list a few important factors in determining your blog value:

  • How many page views
  • How many posts a week
  • How many words in each post
  • Google Page Rank
  • Alexa Page Rank
  • How many  backlinks
  • How long has your blog been running
  • Does it earn ad revenue
  • Do you make sales or get leads from your blog
  • How many readers do you have

To make it easier and to get started as a general rule your blog should follow some simple rules of thumb.

For example, you should really write at least 2 blog posts a week that contain more than 100 words each.

You should have at least 2-4 articles a month with at least 300 words each. That is either 1 long article a week or 2 a month.

And you should try and get backlinks to your blog. This means links from other websites or blogs pointing to your blog.

Your blog should be indexed in Google and Alexa as well.

It should be keyword optimized so that it gets a lot of page views

Don't make your blog a link farm with links all over it. Your blog should load quickly as if it doesn't you could lose readers and also it won't come up as well in the search engine results if someone is searching for a particular topic.

Try and keep the label tab to only 10 or less. When you show your label tags in the sidebar columns use only 10 main labels for your blog.

A blog should have interesting content so that if you use 2 articles a week from popular article directories you could add to this content by posting Videos and Photos. You don't even have to use your own photos and videos. Find Videos from YouTube, MySpace, Vimeo and other sources and just add them as a post. Get photos by doing a search and use ones which are Royalty Free.

Generally if you choose a topic to write about your blog will be about that niche. For example, you could write about Beauty, Fishing or Making Money. These are all niches and your blog should stick to your chosen niche. That way when anyone searches for your blog on the internet they will always find your blog in your chosen niche. This means that visitors will be more interested as they will be targeted visitors choosing to find a blog about the subject you're writing about.
As your blog becomes more popular it's value will increase.

You don't even need to start an affiliate blog for it to have value. You could just write about whatever you want and your blog will start to increase in value. This is very good for the writer because a lot of bloggers have started blogs up which they then go on to sell. If you can create a lot of popular blogs you will find that other bloggers will want to blog on your blog and different individuals or companies are more likely to contact you asking you to write blog posts for them, articles or even to create their own unique blogs.

Therefore there are a lot of different criteria to think about when calculating your blog's value. It's better first to make sure your blog is indexed in Google and Alexa and that you are writing regular blog posts if you want to start increasing it's value. This way you will gradually get more readers and your blog will increase it's monetary value.
